Idioms For You Privacy Policy
Effective 30 September 2026
In short: Idioms For You teaches English idioms. The whole library ships inside the app and works offline. The app has no accounts and no servers, and we do not collect your personal information. The free version shows ads from Google, which collects some device and usage data as described below. Idioms Pro has no ads.
Information stored on your device
Idioms For You keeps a few things on your iPhone only, so it can work:
- Which idioms you have already seen, so each day brings a new one.
- The idioms you save as favourites.
- How many idioms you have viewed today, and any extra idioms unlocked by watching a video.
- Your advertising consent choice, where the law requires one.
This information is not sent to us or anyone else. Deleting the app removes it.
Notifications
With your permission, the app shows a daily idiom at 8am. These are local notifications: they are scheduled on your iPhone by the app itself, and no notification service or server is involved. You can turn them off at any time in iOS Settings › Notifications › Idioms For You.
Sharing
When you share an idiom, the app creates an image of it on your device and hands it to the iOS share sheet. What happens next depends on the app you choose to share with, under that app's own privacy policy. The image contains a QR code linking to Idioms For You on the App Store; it does not contain anything about you.
Purchases
Idioms Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes payments; we never see your payment details. The app checks with Apple whether your Apple Account has Idioms Pro.
Advertising (free version)
The free version shows ads using Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google's User Messaging Platform). Google may collect the following data from your device to show and measure ads:
| Data | Used for |
|---|---|
| Device identifiers, including the advertising identifier (IDFA) if you allow tracking | Advertising, analytics |
| Approximate location (derived from IP address) | Advertising, analytics, consent |
| Ad interactions and app usage (for example, ads viewed or tapped) | Advertising, analytics |
| Diagnostics (crash, performance and other diagnostic data) | Analytics, advertising |
Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt lets you choose whether Google may use your advertising identifier to track you across apps. If you choose not to allow it, you'll still see ads, but they won't be personalised using that identifier. You can change this in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, UK and Switzerland), the app asks for your consent before ads are personalised. You can change your choice at any time from the Go Pro screen › Ad privacy choices.
Google's use of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Idioms Pro users do not see ads, and the ad SDK is not started for them.
Children
Idioms For You is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
- Turn off notifications, tracking, or ad personalisation in iOS Settings or the app's Ad privacy choices.
- Upgrade to Idioms Pro to remove ads.
- Delete the app to remove the information stored on your device.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
